SUMMARY:CS MSc Thesis Presentation 10 April 2026
DESCRIPTION:Kontakt: birger.swahn@cs.lth.se\n\nFriday\, 10 April there will
be a master thesis presentation in Computer Science at Lund University\,
Faculty of Engineering. The presentation will take place in E:2405 (Glasbur
en).Note to potential opponents: Register as an opponent to the presentati
on of your choice by sending an email to the examiner for that presentatio
n (firstname.lastname@cs.lth.se). Do not forget to specify the presentatio
n you register for! Note that the number of opponents may be limited (ofte
n to two)\, so you might be forced to choose another presentation if you r
egister too late. Registrations are individual\, just as the oppositions a
re! More instructions for opponents are found here on the LTH thesis proje
 ct page.13:00-14:00 in E:2405 (Glasburen)Presenter: Ludvig NyströmTitle:
Retrieval-Augmented Generation for Educational ExplorationExaminer: Pierre
NuguesSupervisor: Peng Kuang (LTH)This thesis designs and empirically eva
 luates a production-oriented Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architec
ture for an educational exploration LLM in Skoolie\, a Swedish platform us
ed in schools. The baseline system generates answers without access to str
uctured programme data\, leading to ungrounded and incomplete responses. T
he redesigned architecture retrieves structured records from a higher-educ
ation catalogue and injects them into the prompt using schema-aware contex
t packaging and a dedicated second-stage reranker. Retrieval strategies ar
e compared under strict latency constraints reflecting the deployed user i
nterface. Evaluation combines automated grounding metrics together with a
human survey of perceived helpfulness and correctness. Results demonstrate
that retrieval-conditioned generation substantially improves grounding an
d user-perceived answer quality while remaining within the system’s end-
 to-end latency budget.&nbsp\;\n\nMer information om händelsen: https://ww
