CS MSc Thesis Presentation 9 June 2026
One Computer Science MSc thesis to be presented on 9 June
Tuesday, 9 June there will be a master thesis presentation in Computer Science at Lund University, Faculty of Engineering.
The presentation will take place in E:2116.
Note to potential opponents: Register as an opponent to the presentation of your choice by sending an email to the examiner for that presentation (firstname [dot] lastname [at] cs [dot] lth [dot] se). Do not forget to specify the presentation you register for! Note that the number of opponents may be limited (often to two), so you might be forced to choose another presentation if you register too late. Registrations are individual, just as the oppositions are! More instructions for opponents are found here on the LTH thesis project page.

- Title: Context-Aware and Explainable Object Instantiation in XR
- Examiner: Elizabeth Bjarnason
- Supervisors: Sule Tekkesinoglu (LTH), Saeed Bastani (Ericsson), Leire Amenabar (Ericsson)
AI solutions in XR have the capability to instantiate 3D objects automatically, merging the user's view with new experiences. At the same time, existing solutions are limited in the way context is considered, and give no explanations for the various reasons that lead to complex decisions. We developed a context-aware and explainable 3D object instantiation solution for XR, incorporating scene and user context when generating and placing objects. Our system shows context-awareness in both generating and placing objects, through both quantitative and qualitative evaluation. Users report a preference for explanations, both for trust and reliability reasons. Our solution enables a more personalized and transparent future for advanced XR systems. We believe our solution can be applied in various fields that rely on user centered world building, to increase user trust.
